History

At Headley Park we provide a high quality history education in which pupils understand methods of historical enquiry and discern how and why there are contrasting arguments and interpretations of the past. 

Our history curriculum is full of topics which develop chronological understanding and actively motivate children to ask ‘why’. It also provides the pupils with the skills and knowledge needed to develop into informed, engaged and thoughtful citizens. 

We aim to deliver a study of history which inspires children’s curiosity, encourages critical thinking and enables pupils to have a better understanding of the society in which they live and those in the wider world. 

We select the content and sources in our history curriculum carefully so that children receive a balanced perspective, reflective of the diversity of the world, which actively celebrates black history and the contribution of women throughout the ages.
